Village of Yellow Springs Wildlife Habitat Community

      As native plants and wildlife habitat are disappearing at an alarming rate, Yellow Springs is unique in that the Village is surrounded by natural areas; Glen Helen Nature Preserve, John Bryan State Park, Clifton Gorge and the Glass Farm Prairie and Wetlands, all teaming with wildlife.  With all that bounty, it is easy to miss that there is a rapid decline in species loss.  We need all hands on deck to be part of reversing that trend in developed spaces like the Village. 


The YS Wildlife Habitat Community initiative seeks to do that by encouraging residents and local leaders to rethink landscapes, use sustainable practices such as reducing or eliminating the application of pesticides and chemicals, and by adding native trees and plants, water, and shelter, to yards, gardens and Village land.  This website has been created to assist folks in how to become more wildlife friendly, with education and native plant resources, invasive plant identification and removal, how to get certified as a National Wildlife Federation Garden for Wildlife property and upcoming events. Be part of making Yellow Springs a model community for wildlife habitat!
